"Cafe Luxembourg is an Upper West Side gem! I was specifically searching for actual French- French Onion Soup and found this spot on Google. I am SO glad I did because the soup was perfect, everything I wanted it to be. It was rich and light at the same time, crunchy and soft, the ultimate dish! The bar top is some kind of polished silver and stunning to behold. A local told me it was the only Bartop if it’s kind in the city. Highly recommend! Wonderful and attentive staff, authentic menu, full bar, outdoor seating and very jazzy and chill atmosphere. A must go!"

"Dinner A Love Story Rec; To me, it’s the quintessential Upper West Side restaurant with its idyllic honey-golden light, its distinct New York energy that’s somehow both neighborhoody and special occasion-y, and its perfectly executed crowdpleaser menu. (Think: Shrimp Cocktail, Burgers, Profiteroles, Sticky Toffee Pudding.) The place is an institution and we’ve been there many times over the decades, as longtime readers surely know already. Also, ideally situated for a pre-show meal if you’re heading to Lincoln Center or the Beacon, and even Broadway. Good for: Destination dining, celebrations, regulars, out-of-towners, brunch, dinner, pre-theater"

Diners might share the dining room and bar with musicians who have just finished performing at Lincoln Center. Also: there’s just plain good people watching on any given night as you finish a plate of steak frites, a three-egg omelet, or a half-roast chicken with garlic butter."
