The setting is the big appeal: 70 acres at about 8,250 feet, with views of the Chalk Cliffs and surrounding 14,000-foot peaks. Why it’s worth considering The resort combines several experiences in one place: lodging, hot springs, spa, dining, fitness classes, and easy access to Buena Vista/Salida outdoor activities. The hot springs are open year-round, and day passes are sold onsite with no reservations required. Public soaking areas include the Historic Bath House, Creekside Springs, Upper Pools, and Infinity Pool. The Spa & Club area is more restricted, available to overnight guests age 16+ and spa treatment guests. The creekside pools are probably the most memorable feature. You can soak in natural rock pools along Chalk Creek, which feels more “Colorado hot springs” than a standard resort pool. The infinity pool and mountain views are the other standout. Lodging options Mount Princeton has several lodging categories, including Creekside, Cabins, Lodge, Cliffside, and Hillside accommodations. Overnight stays include complimentary hot springs access, and the resort describes its lodging as ranging from cozy rooms to larger cabins for groups up to 10. For a nicer stay, I’d look first at Cliffside rooms or Creekside rooms/suites. Recent guest feedback on Hotels.com specifically praises the Cliffside rooms for views, space, cleanliness, quiet, and easy parking near the pools/creek. Best for This is a very good fit for a relaxing Colorado mountain getaway, especially if you want hot springs without driving all the way to Ouray, Pagosa Springs, or Glenwood Springs. It works well for couples, solo relaxation, a low-key friends trip, or a Buena Vista/Salida basecamp. It’s also a nice choice if you want a trip that can be as active or as restful as you want: soak, spa, casual dining, nearby hiking, scenic drives, Buena Vista, Salida, Cottonwood Pass, and the Arkansas River corridor. Tradeoffs It is not a secluded luxury resort in the Dunton/Castle Hot Springs category. Think comfortable Colorado hot springs resort, not ultra-luxury. Some reviews praise the views, hot springs, spa, and rooms, while others mention uneven value or wish for better seating/comfort around pool areas. Day-use areas can also get busy, especially weekends and holidays. For a calmer experience, staying overnight and using the guest-access areas is the better play. My take For Colorado, Mount Princeton is a strong “yes” if the goal is mountain scenery + hot springs + easy access from the Front Range. From the Denver/Littleton area, it is a realistic 2–3 night getaway and pairs well with Buena Vista, Salida, Cottonwood Pass, and scenic drives around the Collegiate Peaks. I’d book it more for the setting and soaking experience than for high-end luxury. Best room targets: Cliffside for views or Creekside for the classic hot springs atmosphere.
