"CNT 2024 WHY STAY? To be mesmerised by the shimmering waters of Windermere, watching the morning mist swirl and vanish in the sunlight, waterbirds skimming the surface. This keen-eyed reboot is right on the lake's eastern shore - any closer and you'd be swimming with the cormorants. SLEEP The fellside bedrooms are all very well, but you want a lakeside one. While the design plays it safe - floral motifs, tweeds, shipshape blues and greens - rooms are all spacious, particularly my corner Wray Castle Suite with a sitting room for additional window views (binoculars are provided), though most covetable is the Langdale Pikes one with its octagonal turret lounge. There are also eight rooms in the stand-alone lake-house building, each with a terrace, and the singular Boathouse suite sits right on Windermere. "
