"1 Michelin Star 2024 $88pp Its exterior is unassuming, but one step inside the rustic-chic hot spot and you'll be smitten by its lively vibe, warm hospitality and seductive aromas. Acclaimed chef Zach Engel brings his experience to bear on this personal brand of modern Middle Eastern cuisine. His prix-fixe allows diners to make their own selections from a range of options, but sharing is key to cover the most ground. Kick things off with salatim (spreads and pickles) accompanied by flame-kissed pita. Even familiar dishes offer surprising depth, like creamy hummus or crackling-crisp falatel with mango labneh. Dessert manages to be just as tantalizing as the savory fare. Sample an updated spin on baklava with white chocolate and raspberry for a wonderfully elegant finale."

"Very good Israeli restaurant. Had regular and brisket hummus bc they messed up the order and gave us a free one. Mezze carrots were ok and the iraqi Kubbeh halab was decent. Liked the bass and the lamb kebab el babor were good. Chocolate tahini mousse was very good. Also had some good fruity soda and sparkling wine which they gave us as an anniversary present lol. Service was great. Liked aba slightly better"

"Why we love it: When we heard that Engel was packing up his bags and moving to Chicago, the anticipation was palpable. And so far, the James Beard Award winner hasn't let us down. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, the kitchen orchestrates a parade of hummus, fire-roasted veggies and proteins, balloon-shaped pita and addictive sides. Better yet? A selection of the restaurant's next-level wine list is available to go, with excellent bottles from Israel, Palestine and beyond."

"Falafel. At some point during a meal here everyone experiences what we call “The Galit Moment”—the inevitable realization that this place is f*cking good. The smoky cinnamon-braised brisket hummus could make it happen. Or it could be the zesty Tangier sausage. Perhaps the mushroom-stuffed cabbage with saffron mujadara will be the culprit. This Middle Eastern spot’s $78 tasting menu is just that great. And with a relaxed, airy dining space that works just as well for a casual date with yourself as it does for a special anniversary, any reason to visit Galit is the best one."
