"Mapstr title: Lake Crescent — Olympic National Park Scenic Lake Drive Yes — this is a great save. Lake Crescent is one of the most beautiful and accessible stops in Olympic National Park, about 25 miles west of Port Angeles. The post is accurate: it is known for clear blue water, mountain scenery, shoreline views, and easy access to waterfall hikes. My review: Lake Crescent is a classic scenic drive + easy outdoor stop destination. You can enjoy it without doing a major hike: drive along the lake, stop at pullouts, picnic, visit Lake Crescent Lodge, or walk a short trail. It fits very well into a relaxed Olympic Peninsula road trip. Best things to do: * Drive the lakefront section of US-101 for the water-and-mountain views. * Visit Lake Crescent Lodge — historic 1916 lodge, dining room, lounge, coffee bar, gift shop, and boat rentals. * Marymere Falls Trail — one of the favorite hikes in the area. * Spruce Railroad Trail — runs along the north shore and is a good choice for lake views without a steep climb. * Picnic areas — Fairholme, Bovee’s Meadow, La Poel seasonally, and North Shore all have picnic tables. Mapstr picture suggestion: Use a photo of the Lake Crescent pier or shoreline with the turquoise water and forested mountains. That is the signature image and will look better in Mapstr than a road-only shot. Cost / access: Olympic National Park entrance is $30 per private vehicle, good for 7 consecutive days. The park is cashless. Current status note: The NPS current conditions page recently listed the Lake Crescent area as open, including Barnes Point, Bovee’s Meadow, Marymere Falls, Moments in Time trailheads, boat launches, and Spruce Railroad Trail from both trailheads. Always recheck before going because Olympic conditions can change with weather, storms, or road work. Best time to go: Late spring through early fall is best. Summer has the best water/lodge activity but more crowds. September is probably the sweet spot for a scenic road trip: calmer, less crowded, and still very pretty. How I’d use it in a trip: Make it part of a 2–4 day Olympic Peninsula loop: Seattle → Port Angeles → Lake Crescent → Sol Duc or Forks → Rialto/Ruby Beach → Hoh Rain Forest → back toward Seattle/Tacoma. Bottom line: I’d rate Lake Crescent 9/10 for a scenic, easy-access Olympic National Park stop. It is not an off-road destination, but it is excellent for a beautiful drive, short hikes, photography, and a classic national-park-lodge stop.
