Indeed, every October and November, hundreds of polar bears leave inland for the freezing bay shore to resume their favorite winter activity: hunting seals. They can be safely observed from a sturdy tundra buggy (tours are available from $416). However, you can still spot polar bears in summer, as well as a variety of birds, such as falcons, tundra swans, Pacific loons, snow geese, sandhill cranes, and Canada jays."
