Ce qu'en disent les utilisateurs

"Stift Nonnberg (Nonnberg Abbey) is a Benedictine women’s monastery perched on the Nonnberg hill just above Salzburg’s old town, and is the oldest continuously operating convent in the German-speaking world. It was founded in the early 8th century by Saint Rupert and is known for its Gothic and Romanesque church elements, historic cloisters, and the daily Gregorian chants sung by its community. Its serene atmosphere and links to The Sound of Music add to its appeal as both a spiritual and cultural landmark."

"C’est un des plus vieux couvents d’Europe. Au début du film "La Mélodie du Bonheur", Maria y a résidé pendant son noviciat. 👂Hear The Sound of Music nuns sing at sunrise (free). If you’re at all familiar with the plot of the movie The Sound of Music, you probably know that Maria, who becomes governess to the von Trapp children, was a young recruit at a convent in Salzburg before she joined the family. But what you may not know is that it’s a true story and the actual convent where Maria first lived is in Salzburg. Nonnberg Abbey is a quick walk from downtown and parts of it are open to the public during the day. But provided you don’t mind an early wake-up call, get to the abbey by 6:45 AM to hear the nuns as they sing Gregorian chants and songs while the sun rises. As the nuns sing, the sun rises and illuminates the chapel. You don’t need to be religious to appreciate the beauty of the experience. All are welcome and the experience happens every day, with a few exceptions for holidays. It’s completely free, though it may be nice to donate a euro or two on the way out if you enjoy the performance."

"Nonnberg Abbey is the oldest convent for women north of the Alps. It has been in continual existence since it was founded in the year 714 A.D. In the course of its history, the Abbey was destroyed by fire several times, but it was always rebuilt by the rulers of the city and the church. Today's building was erected in the early 16th century. The Abbeyis significant both for the real Trapp story as well as for the movie. After graduating from college, Maria Augusta von Kutschera took a train to Salzburg to present herself as a candidate for the novitiate of the Benedictine Sisterhood. After serving as a governess outside the abbey she and Baron von Trapp married in the Abbey Church in 1927. The Sound of Music scenes shot here include the opening scene where the nuns go to mass and Maria returns too late. The performance for the song "Maria" was staged in the courtyard of the Abbey. The children came to the Abbey's gate to ask Maria to return to their home. The escape scene, with the cars parked outside the Abbey gate, was also shot in the original spot."
