"Back in 2016, GQ Style declared RTH, on La Cienega, to be “the coolest store in America.” Four years later, not much has changed. RTH has long been the key to unlocking Los Angeles style. Proprietor René T. Holguin's visionary assemblage of reworked vintage mechanics jackets, blousy shirts, reengineered drop-crotch Levi's, and a rotating mix of leather accessories feels unmoored from fashion, a universe unto itself. Every time I step inside the little hut strewn with peace signs, dream catchers, and Yves Klein-blue paint, I find something unexpected. This time: a heavy denim western shirt recast with a cinched waist, a crisp poplin shirt that went down to my knees (and which made me consider joining the prairie style movement), a green vase with the texture of a river stone, a polka-dot neckerchief (because why not!). I settled on a turtleneck shirt in a deadstock plaid fabric with a wide, cropped body and extra-long ribbing—one of the strangest-fitting garments I'd ever tried on ($185). RTH is barely available online, but this month its collaboration with A.P.C. hits stores around the world. The collection will also be available at the store, and if you ask me, it's worth making the pilgrimage."
