"Born from a beloved Nantucket institution, White Elephant Palm Beach feels like its freshly polished, sun-seeking cousin. Instead of leaning into nostalgia, it channels an easy, contemporary kind of glamour: Mediterranean Revival bones, creamy stucco, stately-but-relaxed interiors, and the sense that you’re staying in a low-key, beautifully put-together beach house. Hardwood floors, textured rugs, and soft, sandy neutrals keep everything calm and airy without tipping into theme. Originally built in 1924, the property keeps its historic facade and footprint, but the inside has been completely rethought by Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects. With only 13 deluxe rooms and 19 suites—including two top-floor penthouse Park and Palm suites—the scale feels intimate and residential rather than resort-y. It’s the kind of place where you start recognizing the staff after a day or two, and your room feels like a private apartment a block from the beach. Lola 41, the hotel’s buzzy restaurant (by way of Nantucket), anchors the social life here—indoor-outdoor, polished but unfussy, and just as good for a spontaneous martini at the bar as it is for a long, late dinner. Taken together, White Elephant Palm Beach borrows the warmth and attention to detail of its Nantucket sibling but trades shingled New England charm for a softer, very-Palm-Beach point of view."
