"Villa Lala Boutique Hotel Adults Only is a tiny, high-end, adults-only boutique hotel on the south side of Puerto Vallarta near Boca de Tomatlán. It’s built into a lush hillside directly above Banderas Bay, with only 12 oceanfront suites, so the experience is much more private and personal than a conventional resort. The hotel positions itself specifically for couples, honeymoons, anniversaries, and quiet romantic trips. The setting is the star. You’re surrounded by jungle, water, birds, and steep coastal terrain, with a private dock and direct access to the sea. The hotel has a heated pool, restaurant, outdoor gym, gardens and terraces, concierge service, and several secluded outdoor seating/dining areas. Some suites are dramatically more elaborate than others, including the Tree Love Nest, Jungle Love Nest, and private-pool suites. The reviews are exceptionally strong. Booking.com currently shows 9.7/10 from about 158 verified stays, with staff at 9.9, cleanliness and comfort at 9.8, location at 9.6, and value at 9.3. Tripadvisor is at 5.0/5 from 231 reviews and ranks it among Puerto Vallarta’s top specialty properties. The strongest recurring positives are the privacy, scenery, rooms, and service. Guests repeatedly describe it as exceptionally peaceful and romantic, and several recent reviews specifically praise the private pools, jacuzzis, hammocks, included kayaks/paddleboards, personalized service, and ocean views. Some guests report seeing dolphins and even whales from the property during the right season. Dining is available on property, with Mexican cuisine, cocktails, and breakfast service. Reviews of breakfast and drinks are especially strong, while dinner gets slightly more mixed feedback; a couple of recent guests felt dinner was only adequate despite loving the hotel overall. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options are available. Location is both a strength and a limitation. It’s about 16 miles from Puerto Vallarta airport, south of the main hotel zone, and removed from downtown nightlife. Boca de Tomatlán Beach is about an 8-minute walk away, and the private dock makes boat trips toward places like Yelapa and south-shore beaches particularly convenient. A car or taxi is useful if you plan to go into central Puerto Vallarta frequently. One thing to know before booking: this is intentionally intimate and quiet. It does not have the activity level, multiple restaurants, large spa complex, or sprawling pool scene of a large luxury resort. That is exactly why people love it. The Wi-Fi score is only 8.1/10, noticeably weaker than the rest of the property ratings, so it’s better suited to disconnecting than working remotely all day. The room pricing on the official site is listed in Mexican pesos. Standard suites currently start around MX$9,300 per night, while a Tree Love Nest starts around MX$18,680 per night, before any taxes or date-specific adjustments. My read: this property’s real value is not “luxury resort amenities”; it’s privacy + scenery + extraordinary service + unique suites. If you book it, I’d put most of the budget into the room category rather than spa extras or off-property activities. The Love Nest/private-pool rooms appear to be the version that turns the stay from “very nice boutique hotel” into something genuinely memorable. Yes—the prices on Villa Lala’s website are Mexican pesos, even though they use the $ symbol. At today’s rate of about 17 MXN per US$1, the approximate nightly prices are: Villa Lala room MXN/night Approx. USD/night Junior Suite $4,220 $249 Master Suite $6,760 $399 Master Suite Plus $9,300 $548 Superior Suite $9,300 $548 Tree Love Nest – private pool $18,680 $1,102 Jungle Love Nest – private pool $18,680 $1,102 Hummingbird Love Nest $20,900 $1,233 Falcon Love Nest $20,900+ $1,233+ Eagle’s Love Nest $27,160 $1,602 Those are starting nightly rates, before any applicable taxes and date-specific pricing. The official site confirms the current peso rates. So the property isn’t necessarily a $1,000+/night hotel. You can get into it for roughly $250–$550/night; it’s the spectacular private-infinity-pool Love Nest suites that push it above $1,000. For value, the Master Suite at roughly $400/night catches my attention: 50 m² (~538 sq. ft.), king bed, ocean/mountain views and a private Jacuzzi. "
