"Since 1863, this mill has operated on the banks of the Clinton River, making cider since 1876. Generations of the family operated the mill, from Caroline and William Yates, who began with a sawmill and gristmill. They expanded with a cider mill as there was a growing demand from farmers for a place to press their apples. In the 1930s, their grandson introduced donuts to their offerings. In 1959, when he retired, he sold the mill to close family friends Charles and Ruth Posey. Charles was a skilled mechanic who had helped with the mill’s machinery. Their granddaughter and her husband took over in 2006."
