"“ Brackenridge Park has been a favorite San Antonio getaway spot for more than a century, with walking trails, boat rentals, playgrounds, a miniature train and gardens. Its main attraction – other than a serene green setting – is that it’s the headspring of the San Antonio River. At the nearby Headwaters Sanctuary, you can peer into Blue Hole from which the San Antonio River emerges. Many of the park’s sights are designed for children, but some are equally interesting for adults. The tranquil Japanese Tea Garden was originally a clever way to hide a hole in the ground. Almost 100 years ago, an eyesore of a quarry was transformed into a Japanese-style strolling garden, with koi ponds, arched stone bridges and a 60ft waterfall. Meant to be enjoyed year-round, the garden is especially pretty in spring, when the flowers are in bloom.” Excerpt From Lonely Planet Texas Lonely Planet This material may be protected by copyright."

"Brackenridge is a beautiful 343-acre public park in San Antonio. Besides grand sites and a relaxing environment, Brackenridge offers attractions like the San Antonio Zoo, the famous Witte Museum, dedicated to natural history, science, and southern heritage, and the Japanese Tea Gardens. This is definitely a place you wouldn’t want to miss out on if you’re lucky enough to travel to the San Antonio area. The best part is that most activities at the park don’t cost you a penny!"
