Kings Canyon

"The yawning chasm of Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park is one of the most spectacular sights in central Australia. While there’s a certain soulfulness and mystique to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon impresses with its scale and raw beauty, with its sheer red cliffs and by the opportunity to climb on the precipitous walls for fabulous aerial views. Plan to explore the canyon on foot, and to spend at least two nights here, so that you can go walking on a number of occasions in the cool of the morning and late afternoon. It’s a weird and wonderful place: note the ripples embedded in the rock in places (this was once covered in water), while some of the domes began life as sand dunes"
