"If you decide you want one serious, chef-driven meal, Mume is the logical pick: a modern Taiwanese restaurant with a Michelin star and frequent appearances on Asia’s Best lists. The cooking leans hyper-seasonal, with herbs, flowers, and local produce treated with Nordic-ish restraint, so it doesn’t feel like you could be in any generic world city. The room is dim, design-y, and more relaxed than many starred places; the vibe is closer to Copenhagen neighborhood spot than white-tablecloth temple. For you, it’s an intellectual, conversation-heavy dinner rather than a food marathon—good if you want one carefully calibrated, 2–2.5-hour experience. Reservations are essential around New Year and may already be tight; if you can get one, I’d avoid Dec 31 itself and pick Dec 30 or Jan 1 to dodge the biggest crowds and logistics issues."

"1 star In line with its name (the Latin word for ‘plum blossom’), the relaxed and friendly MUME generously garnishes dishes with fresh herbs and flowers – in somewhat stark contrast to the dimly-lit faux-industrial interior of the restaurant itself. On the menu, Taiwanese ingredients are melded with Nordic influences and modern techniques are used effectively to create dishes that provide contrasts in tastes and textures."
