"The Tuscan Archipelago National Park covers the area between Livorno and the Argentario promontory. It features seven main islands, including Elba, Giglio and Montecristo, as well as numerous islets and rocks. This marine and terrestrial park offers a striking diversity of landscapes. Elba, the largest island, has a rugged coastline and a complex morphology, while Pianosa is completely flat. Meanwhile, Montecristo island rises like a rocky cone out of the sea. The archipelago’s geological wealth is reflected in its exceptional biodiversity. We can admire Mediterranean vegetation adapted to the coastal climate, including heather, arbutus, mastic and myrtle. Endemic species such as the Elbe violet and cornflower add to the park’s botanical wealth. Moreover, the crustal-clear waters surrounding the islands are a popular spot for many marine species – barracudas, dolphins and, if you are lucky, the rare Mediterranean monk seal."
