"During a recent meal at SPQR, a solo diner sat at the bar, enraptured. “I haven’t been here since 2012, and it’s even better than I remembered,” he gushed. Before leaving, he pumped the bartender’s hand as if he were Bob Cratchit receiving a Christmas turkey from benefactor Scrooge. If you too haven’t stopped by SQPR in recent years, it might be time for a revisit. Handmade pastas are pigmented and flavored with squid ink, herbs and cocoa, the latter worked into lasagna sheets layered with mushrooms, ricotta and black garlic ($33). If that has you clicking to Resy already, consider booking for a Thursday, when a five-course pasta tasting is available for $59. The only downside would be missing out on an appetizer of polenta custard, wrapped in homemade filo pastry with pickled ramps and morels ($22). You just might end up shaking your server’s hand over it."

"Not my favorite for the price point. Looking back - No dish stands out and the service was below average. I think they were trying too much on some of the dishes, and the more simple dishes were often better (pork belly, salad course, dessert). The beef du modi had too much going on - just trying too hard. Cabot claims you can’t benchmark against saison but in the end the price point was not that far off. 7.5/10"

"Lovely pac heights restaurant. 5 course prix fixe w optional wine pairing. Started w pork belly and sweet corn. Next to lettuce, picked winter veggies, and herb crusted bread. Third, to a lovely squash ravioli with beef brisket. Fourth, to a perfectly cooked salmon. And finally, a chicolate lava cake (I’m butchering the Italian name) with fresh whipped cream and a deep fried hibiscus biscuit. I thought it was excellent and cheaper than others of the same stature. 9.0/10"
