"This is a good Grand Teton scenic-drive post, and most of it is directionally accurate. I’d make a few tweaks so it doesn’t overstate or mix areas outside the park. Fact-check / cleanup notes Teton Park Road is absolutely the core scenic drive inside Grand Teton. The National Park Service specifically calls out park roads for Teton Range views, wildlife opportunities, and safe scenic turnouts. Driving south to north in the morning is a smart photography tip because the Tetons are west of the road, so morning light generally helps rather than shooting straight into harsh afternoon glare. Jenny Lake Scenic Drive is accurately described as short and dramatic. NPS says it skirts the east shore of Jenny Lake, provides spectacular peak views, is accessed from North Jenny Lake Junction, and is one-way southbound before returning to Teton Park Road. Teton Pass is a great regional drive, but it is not inside Grand Teton National Park. It is WYO 22 between Wilson/Jackson Hole and Victor, Idaho. The 10% grade warning is fair; Wyoming Highway Patrol describes Teton Pass as having some of the steepest highway grades in the continental U.S. and notes a permanent 60,000-lb maximum weight restriction. I’d keep it, but label it as a Jackson Hole side drive / arrival route, not a Grand Teton park drive. Snake River Canyon is also outside the park, south of Jackson toward Alpine/Hoback. Beautiful, especially in fall, but it’s better framed as a gateway drive into Jackson rather than a Grand Teton drive. Gros Ventre Road is a strong pick. The moose/wildlife note is reasonable, but I’d soften “we’ve seen more moose here than almost anywhere else” unless it’s truly personal experience. Also, the “broken-down cabins that were once part of a movie set” sounds like it may be mixing in Mormon Row or other historic structures. The NPS describes the Moose/Mormon Row area as a gateway with Teton views, Snake River access, historic districts, and popular visitor stops. One 2026 planning note: Grand Teton has had notable construction and seasonal road impacts, including Moose-Wilson Road closures and other delays, so anyone building an itinerary should check current NPS conditions before locking the route. My ranking for beauty 1. Teton Park Road — best overall classic Teton views 2. Jenny Lake Scenic Drive — short but incredibly dramatic 3. Gros Ventre Road / Kelly area — best quieter valley-and-wildlife feel 4. Signal Mountain Summit Road — I’d add this; great elevated views over Jackson Lake and the valley 5. Teton Pass — dramatic approach/side drive, but outside the park 6. Snake River Canyon — scenic gateway drive, especially fall, but not really a park drive Cleaner version Most visitors think of Grand Teton as a park of hikes and overlooks, but some of the best experiences here happen right from the road. The key is knowing which drives are actually worth your time — and when to do them. 1. Teton Park Road This is the classic Grand Teton drive and the easiest way to connect many of the park’s best stops. Drive it south to north in the morning and the Tetons rise straight ahead, often with better light on the peaks. It’s perfect for linking Jenny Lake, String Lake, Signal Mountain, Jackson Lake, and sunset pullouts into one full scenic day. 2. Jenny Lake Scenic Drive Short, one-way, and dramatic. This road hugs the east side of Jenny Lake and gives you that close-up view where the mountains feel like they drop right into the water. It’s especially good early or late in the day when reflections and shadows make the lake feel quieter. 3. Gros Ventre Road / Kelly area This is one of the best drives near the park for open valley scenery, wildlife watching, and a quieter feel than the main park corridor. Go slowly, use pullouts, and keep a respectful distance from moose, bison, and pronghorn. It pairs well with Mormon Row, Antelope Flats, and the Kelly area. 4. Signal Mountain Summit Road This one deserves a spot. It climbs to one of the best elevated viewpoints in the park, with views over Jackson Lake, the Snake River valley, and the surrounding mountains. It’s a great contrast to the close-up Teton views along Jenny Lake. 5. Teton Pass Not technically inside Grand Teton National Park, but an unforgettable arrival or side drive between Idaho and Jackson Hole. The grade is steep, the curves are tight, and the views are big. Shift down early, don’t ride the brakes, and stop at the top if conditions allow. Bonus: Snake River Canyon This is more of a gateway drive into Jackson than a Grand Teton park road, but it’s beautiful — especially in fall when the cottonwoods turn gold along the river.
