The track starts at the Gold Mine Picnic Area. This easy return walk is suitable for all fitness levels. Summit Track – 1.9 km (30 minutes) Start at the J.C. Slaughter Falls Picnic Area and follow the mostly paved path up to the roundabout near the lookout. The track includes some stairs Rising 287 metres from sea level, Mount Coot-tha is best known for its look-out. But that’s not the only activity available for the many visitors who grace the popular tourist destination. The mountain sits in the midst of 1600 hectares adjoining the south-eastern section of D’Aguilar National Park, a mass of eucalypt forest, rainforest gullies, creeks and 31 kilometres of bushwalking tracks. We promise to show you a new side to Mount Coot-tha with our guide to the iconic landmark below. Pack snacks and your walking shoes. Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens at Mount Coot-tha is a leafy wonderland made for wandering. Little legs will love the rainforest trails and Tropical Dome, and you can gaze at the stars (and planets) at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium next door. Entry is free (except for Planetarium shows), and you’ll easily while away a whole day here. Don’t skip the summit lookout - those city views are chef’s kiss. From hiking trails to summit lookouts, there's plenty more to explore while at Mount Coot-tha."
