"2 LOCHAN UAINE Set amid an ancient Scots pine forest, this tranquil lochan gets its beautiful turquoise clarity from the abundance of iron in the rock, concentrated in the water by the restricted inflow and outflow to give it the appearance of a miniature Canadian glacial lake. More fancifully, it is called the Fairy Loch, with the colour attributed to fairies washing their clothes in it. Ringed with sandy beaches, it is unique and easily accessed, but there can be leeches here. Ryvoan bothy (see 19) lies beyond. Starting from Glenmore Forest visitor centre (PH22 1QY) follow the path that runs E to Glenmore Lodge.
