"Dominicanen Book Store Photography and book lovers – assemble! The Dominicanen book store is one of my favourite places in Maastricht. An independent bookshop inside an old church. They sell a combination of brand new books, secondhand books, books in other languages (not just Dutch) and they also have a music department. The church itself was built in the 13th century but lost its sacred function about two hundred years ago. Since then, the building has housed many different establishments until the bookstore moved in in 2006. They also have a lovely little coffee shop at the end, where you can read your newly bought books 😉"

"A Maastricht, là dove un tempo c’era una chiesa gotica del XIII secolo, oggi c'è la Boekhandel Dominicanen, una delle librerie più belle d'Olanda. Abbandonata la sua funzione sacra, due secoli fa, questo edificio è stato una tana per serpenti e una rimessa per biciclette. Nel 2005 sono cominciati i lavori di ristrutturazione che hanno dato vita a quello che è considerato un tempio del libro. Il restauro ha mantenuto intatta la struttura originaria con tre navate, colonne decorate e dipinti che oggi fanno da scenografia a scaffali traboccanti di libri"
