"Ramen Misoya — down a flight of steps in a West Village basement — encourages you to supplement noodles with added proteins, including lovely miniature pork cutlets and tempura shrimp. They contribute immeasurably to the pleasure of the meal. There’s another branch in the East Village."

"Came here when the other location closed down🪦😭 The location is nicer, bigger and newer but the entrance needs a lot of work, dark basement, no windows and no signs. My baby said the flooring in some parts needed work and I agree. Luckily the food and flavor remain the same although portions are smaller, but it’s ok, Misoya can do no wrong and I forgive them. Yummy karaage and ramen always!🍜"

"Pete Wells on NY Times: Miso’s expansive flavor and peanut butter-like richness give ramen extra power, helping it to fight back against damp, drizzly Novembers of the soul and other seasonal afflictions. Most ramen shops sell at least one bowl that is enriched by miso; Ramen Misoya specializes in it. Each soup is fortified with one of three misos: shiro, gentle and buttery; mame, long-fermented, dark and pungent; or the familiar light-brown kome miso."

"Ramen, not best-in-the-city overall but broths are especially tasty. Recommend: Mame miso broth. Katsu and especially fried shrimp better than pork chashu. Kome miso broth also good. Cozy, underground, lots of seating, vibe more like an unpretentious restaurant than a typical ramen place. Laid back, affordable, relaxing, understated—in a neighborhood with almost no places like this."
