"CN Traveler’s List 2019 / A refreshingly low-key design hotel on an otherwise busy coastline. This former fisherman’s house has just seven bedrooms and a tumble of terraced gardens – one level with a fountain, another with a sleek pool and lemon groves – that meet a rocky outcrop dotted with immaculate pairs of white sun loungers, each set hidden from other guests, let alone onlookers. There’s a steep set of steps down to the sea and a private bay for swimming – adventurous water taxi drivers will even drop guests off at the bottom, which is a speedy way to avoid the curl of cars on the road above. The derelict building was discovered by a pair of Austrian architects on holiday, who went on to restore it as their summer crash pad. A decade later, it was opened to guests, and these days Casa Privata (known by locals as Ca’ P’a) is now run by their daughter Rosa.
