The Tea Rooms @ The butterfly and the pig

"Location: 8/10 classic vintage English style that doesn't veer into kitsch. Service: 8/10 friendly waiters, food was served quickly. Tap water was brought and when we asked for an extra slice of toasted bread we were charged nothing. Menu: 7/10 we opted for vegetarian afternoon tea for one person and a vegan full English breakfast. The breakfast was plentiful, the vegan options were just about acceptable (sausage, haggis, and scrambled eggs) and the toast was almost burnt, but overall it was a satisfying breakfast 8/10. The afternoon tea consisted of four small, relatively boring sandwiches with a constant combination of rocket, tomatoes and cucumber, followed by a different pâté or a slice of cheese or a boiled egg salad (6/10). There was also an oatcake with pepper pâté (7/10) and three desserts, including a shortbread cookie with jam (6/10), a red velvet cake (7/10) and a scone with clotted cream and jam (4/10). All washed down with a jug of ta water and a huge pot of tea per person. We left feeling so full we could burst. Bill: 7/10 we paid £36, including £14 for breakfast, which was well worth it (8/10) and £20 for afternoon tea, which was not worth it given the quality of what we received (5/10). "

"Avec sa belle vaisselle dépareillée et chinée, la tapisserie à fleurs, les énormes gâteaux à plusieurs étages, les scones qui attendent sagement sous une cloche en verre, et le parfait chaï latte pour accompagner le tout. Le PUB de cette même adresse, qui se trouve au demi sous-sol. Leur steak pie était délicieuse."
