"#CNT - TOP ACTIVITIES TORONTO 🎭 Opened in 1913 - still a wonderful prog 🎭 Broadway, Musical, Opera, Comédie Show, Concerts 🎭 Toronto International Film Festival The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre is the last remaining Edwardian double-decker theater in the world. Opened in 1913 by Marcus Loew of Loews movie theater fame (not to mention the founder of Hollywood's MGM Studios), the ornate dual theaters were designated National Historic Sites of Toronto in 1982. Following extensive restorations, they continue to host stage programs of all kinds. You can find a little bit of everything: Broadway musicals, operas, comedy shows, and concerts are all held here. The theaters are also official venues of the Toronto International Film Festival. Even if you're not interested in any of the performances that are on while you're in town, there are 90-minute guided tours that allow you to peek inside the theaters and learn about their history. You'll even be able to see some pieces from the world’s largest collection of vaudeville scenery."

"Saw the theatre during DoorsOpen 2024 - Elgin theatre is on the first floor and is pretty cool, but Wintee theatre on the second floor is amazing. Unfortunately there doesn't look like there's a lot of shows in the Winter theatre"
