"Quick stop. Ended up running into a guy named Art, an elderly gentlemen from Pennsylvania, who was with his wife with a walker. He told me that he wanted to see Mount Mitchell but couldn’t do it with his wife because she couldn’t make it. He’s bummed out about it and asked how old I was. When hearing that I’m 25 he said “get out and do all this now, travel, if you have the time and money for it then do it. Once you get married/get a house you won’t have the same opportunity” I shared with him that many of people have shared that same mentality with me and it’s etched in my mind so that’s what brings me out here now. He was saying that even though he’s got a painful nerve that he would’ve went up to the top of Mount Mitchell and toughed it out to see it but he didn’t want to leave his wife alone. So he reiterated that solo is the way to go when it comes to traveling. I asked him for a photo and he kindly declined. I let him know that instead of an actual photo I’ll take a photo of him in my mind."
