"Length: 6-8 hours roundtrip | 800D+ This classic 7.2-mile (11.5km) round-trip hike along one of the park’s oldest trails leads from the valley floor to the top of the three-step falls. The stiff ascent makes it a thigh-burning, knee-busting haul. If it seems a bit much, you can always hike just the first mile (and 1000 vertical feet) to Columbia Rock, a justifiably classic viewpoint. From the northeastern side of 1 Camp 4, the Yosemite Falls Trail immediately starts in on the four dozen short switchbacks that zigzag up a talus slope through canyon live oaks. After 0.8 miles, the grade eases as the trail follows more switchbacks east to 2> Columbia Rock (5031ft). In another 0.4 miles, the trail approaches the top of 3 Lower Yosemite Falls, where breezes may shower you with mist. After admiring the view, brace yourself for the numerous switchbacks that run steadily up a rocky cleft to the valley rim. The falls once ran down this cleft. The trail tops out 3.2 miles from the trailhead and bends east. At the junction, the trail going straight leads to Eagle Peak (7779ft). Turn right at this junction and follow the trail a short distance to the brink of Upper Yosemite Falls at the 4 Yosemite Falls Overlook (6400ft). The view of the falls is impressive, but views of El Capitan and Half Dome are obscured. For a wider perspective, go the extra 1.6 miles (and nearly 600ft more in elevation) to 5 Yosemite Point (6936ft), where you’ll get incredible views of Half Dome, North Dome, Clouds Rest, Glacier Point, Cathedral Rocks and Lost Arrow. When you’re done, retrace your steps to the trailhead.”"

"Lovers Passport: Top Things to do in Yosemite. To get to Lower Yosemite Falls, it’s about a 1 mile hike round trip and is mostly flat. Great views for such a short hike! If you decide to hike to the top of Yosemite Falls, it’s much more strenuous and is a 7.2 mile round trip hike but totally worth it for the incredible views. "
