"Hamersley Gorge is great place to visit. The best road in to gorge we found is not the Mt Bruce road but the road from Karratha road (Rio Tinto Road), This road was in excellent condition with minimal corrugations or pot holes, Maybe we just were lucky and I would say this road is better than many Victorian major Sealed roads. The geology of this gorge is very different to the other gorges as the rock has been exposed to significant tectonics forces with the severe and stunning rock buckling. The path down to gorge is mainly steps. The rocks are very smooth and in places can be a little challenging to climb over to get to upstream pools. Overall a great and different gorge."
