"Archaeological Museum is located within the Romanesque Church of San Rafeu (fr. Église Saint-Raphaël) in the Saint-Raphael old town area. Inside you’ll discover the crypts of an early Christian church and a collection of objects found during underwater archaeological excavations in shipwrecks dating back to the Roman Empire period. You can also climb its 13th-century tower (only 129 steps!) and admire the town and its surroundings from above. Visiting this museum is a great thing to do in Saint Raphael for history geeks. "Ce musée confirme que le site de St-Raphaël constitue un riche gisement de vestiges antiques. La reconstitution du chargement d'un navire romain, la remarquable collection d'amphores... rendent le musée incontournable sur le plan de l'archéologie sous-marine. Prototypes d'appareils de plongée et de photographie sous-marine et présentation des techniques de conservation des bois immergés complètent cette section. On peut aussi y voir le produit de fouilles dans l'Estérel, intéressants témoignages de la préhistoire."
