"There are many state park alternatives to Olympic National Park, but Oswald West State Park in Arch Cape, Oregon, offers an even more adventure-packed experience. And it goes beyond the scenic hikes Olympic National Park is known for. Oswald West State Park also boasts mystical coastal forests, dramatic cliffs, mountain views, and scattered sea stacks, but with fewer crowds, easier access, and a wider range of beach activities, including surfing and tidepooling."

"Hike to Short Sand Beach and on the way see a suspension bridge too. Neahkahnie Mountain Loop Hike – 8 mi lollipop loop, 2300 ft moderate difficulty. It has nice coastal views and you go under a natural tunnel formed by tree roots. If you just want to hike to Summit Viewpoint, it is 3 mi RT and moderate. Arch Cape to Short Sand Beach – 15.9 mi RT, 990 ft, difficult. If you want a longer hike and want to avoid the crowds, this is the hike for you. Arch Cape to Cape Falcon is the least traveled part of Oswald West State Park"

"Fifteen miles south of Cannon at the end of a one-mile hike along the Short Sand Creek, you’ll find Short Sand Beach, or “Shorty’s” as it’s known to the throngs of entry-level surfers from Portland who show up here every weekend. It’s one of the few beaches that have blown out with tourists and managed to stay chill. If a pristine shoreline that backs into mounds of rocks and driftwood at the base of rocky, redwood- and hemlock-lined cliffs is what your mind’s eye conjures when you imagine a beach in Oregon, this is the spot."

"This state park crowns the headland made up by magnificent Neahkahnie Mountain and Cape Falcon on the Tillamook and Clatsop county line. To see the most incredible setting, head for Devil's Cauldron from U.S. 101, but go left instead of right."
