"You mean Baoase Luxury Resort in Curaçao. This one is excellent, and it’s quite different from both the Kimpton Seafire and the Ocean Club. Baoase is a very small, highly private luxury resort in Willemstad with just 23 villas and suites. Twelve of those units have their own plunge pools. The design is heavily Balinese-inspired, with tropical gardens, stone, wood, water features, and a secluded private-beach setting. The biggest strength is intimacy. This is not a big Caribbean hotel with hundreds of rooms, multiple giant pools, and lots of activity. It is closer to a private tropical hideaway with five-star service. Forbes specifically emphasizes the exclusivity and private beach, while Condé Nast highlights the landscaping and sense of privacy between accommodations. The beach itself is beautiful but relatively small and sheltered. Think calm, turquoise lagoon rather than a huge sweeping beach like Seven Mile Beach at the Seafire or the long oceanfront beach at Ocean Club. That can actually be an advantage if your priority is swimming, lounging and privacy rather than long beach walks. Food is another major strength. Baoase has a strong reputation for its beachside culinary program, and recent guest reviews repeatedly praise both the food and personalized service. There are occasional complaints about slow service or very high pricing, but overwhelmingly this is treated as a high-end dining resort rather than a place where food is an afterthought. One particularly interesting difference: Baoase does offer an all-inclusive meal-plan option, including meals, snacks and alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages. That gives it an advantage over Ocean Club and Seafire if you want luxury without constantly thinking about restaurant bills. It also received some serious recognition recently: Curaçao’s tourism site notes that Travel + Leisure readers ranked Baoase the #1 resort in the Caribbean, Bermuda & Bahamas in 2025, and Baoase says U.S. News ranked it #1 in Curaçao for 2025. My comparison of the three you’ve brought up: Baoase Ocean Club Four Seasons Kimpton Seafire Luxury 10 10 9.5 Beach 9 9.5 9.5 Privacy 10 9.5 8.5 Food 9.5 9.5 9 Service 10 10 9 Pool 9 9 9.5 Romantic atmosphere 10 9.5 8.5 Family vacation 8 8.5 9 Resort activities 7.5 8.5 9 Quiet/relaxation 10 9.5 8.5 Overall 9.5 9.5 9.2 For a couple’s trip, I might actually choose Baoase over both of the others. It’s more distinctive, considerably more intimate and feels less like a conventional luxury hotel. For a larger multigenerational family vacation, I’d reverse that: Seafire would probably be the easiest, followed by Ocean Club, with Baoase third. Baoase’s small scale and romantic atmosphere are part of what makes it special, but they’re also why it isn’t the obvious choice for a large family group. If you’re narrowing down a Caribbean trip for you and Tricia rather than the big family vacation, Baoase should absolutely be near the top of the list."
