"city center of Manilla. Intramuros: the historic centre of Manila Intramuros, also called the Walled City, is the historic heart of Manila. Built by Spanish colonists in the 16th century, this walled area offers a fascinating glimpse into the colonial era of Manila. You’ll find ramparts, bastions and churches that bear witness to the city’s rich past. Among the more notable sites to visit in Intramuros you can find Fort Santiago, an emblematic fortress that served as headquarters for the Spanish colonists and then the Japanese forces during the Second World War. The fort now houses a museum dedicated to José Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero, who was imprisoned here prior to his execution. The San Agustin Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is another architectural treasure of Intramuros. This baroque church is one of the oldest in Asia and houses a museum displaying religious and historical artefacts."

"C'est le siège du diocèse de Manille. La structure actuelle est une reconstruction car elle avait été partiellement détruite durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale (en fait, il s'agit de la sixième ou huitième version depuis la structure originale édifiée en 1581, selon les façons de compter). Sa coupole est immense et ses vitraux racontent la christianisation. De nombreux mariages y sont célébrés chaque week-end."
