"Chi cerca il brivido lo può trovare qui nell’Haslital, sul lato bernese del passo del Grimsel. Con una pendenza che tocca il 106%, questa funicolare con vagone unico è senza dubbio la più ripida d’Europa. La funivia, utilizzata originariamente per trasportare tonnellate di materiale per la costruzione della diga, oggi porta gli escursionisti assetati di avventura dalla valle a 1860 metri di altezza in un batter d’occhio. È un prodigio della tecnica e consente di effettuare una traversata indimenticabile, quasi in verticale. Già solo il tragitto di andata e ritorno in questa funivia aperta è di per sé un’esperienza (si consiglia di prenotare), in ogni caso si dovrebbe assolutamente programmare anche un’escursione circolare attorno alle acque turchesi del lago Gelmersee oppure ancora più in alto fino al rifugio Gelmerhütte. Gli sportivi fanno rientro a Handegg scendendo per Chüenzentennlen e seguendo il vecchio sentiero del Grimsel con le «Hähle Platten» (lastre di pietra piatte). Giunti al ponte sospeso, vale la pena rimirare la cascata di Handegg. FRONT ROW TIPS when riding the Gelmerbahn! 1. Book tickets in advance and GET THERE EARLY! First ride up is usually at 9am. I got there at 830am to get my physical ticket and I was first in line. 2. It is not operational all year round. They close during winter so check their website for updates. 3. It's a first come first serve basis, so if you are first in line, you can choose where you want to sit. Choose the front row seats for best experience! (obviously e) 4. The Gelmerbahn permanently faces down the mountain. So when going up the mountain, you are moving backwards. When going down, you are going forwards. You will need to get off after going up and get off after going down. So you've got two tries to get the front row! 5. They will do a test run before 9am. And if they are nice enough, they will let you get on Gelmerbahn earlier! 7.
