"Best restaurant in UK 2022. It is worth booking ahead for Tommy Banks' urban outpost Roots, on a quiet street near the Ouse. (It is hard to get a table at his Black Swan restaurant with rooms in Oldstead, a 30-minute drive away.) A Michelin-starred tasting menu champions produce from the Banks' family farm. Sturdy architecture from the 1800s is softened with mid-century chairs and Scandinavian birchwood tables. Brioche-like crab toast dotted with caviar and a humble Senshyu onion, presented on Jane Schaffer pottery, is elevated to stardom when paired with whey and chanterelles and a glass of crisp Swiss Heida."
