One of the most popular walking trails in Springbrook National Park, it is a fantastic walk through some stunning and unique subtropical rainforest. Massive rock formations, waterfalls galore, birdlife and spectacular views to Surfers Paradise in the distance, top off the stunning scenery to be found here in the Gold Coast hinterland. This hike can be done in either direction, but heading anti-clockwise from the Canyon Lookout or Tallanbana picnic area means visitors can more easily follow the interpretative signs. The signs orient you through several types of forests along the way. The route passes between palm trees and tree ferns, behind two waterfalls into rock crevices, and beneath towering brush box trees. Similar smooth pink barked trees in the park have been radio-carbon dated at 1500 years old, making them the oldest carbon-dated trees on mainland Australia. Tallanbana Picnic Area near the trailhead, has parking, public toilets, sheltered picnic tables and information boards."
