"Surrounded by the red-dune landscape of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, this luxurious tented resort is a magical, powerful and soulful retreat. Indagare Loves Watching the sun rise over the red rock of Uluru (Ayers Rock) Each tent is named after an Australian explorer or pioneer and is adorned with artifacts that offer first-hand history of the area The pampering indulgence of Spa Kinara The swimming pool and plunge pool, which offer much-needed relief after a day exploring the Outback Review Rising from the red earth and spinifex grass that surrounds Uluru, Longitude 131° immerses visitors in the stillness and beauty of the Australian outback. With 15 luxury safari tents and the stand alone two-bedroom Dune Pavilion, all offering prime views of the spectacular red sandstone rock formation, the UNESCO World Heritage Site feels miles removed from civilization. Each individually decorated tent has a king-size bed, climate control and a lounge opening to a private balcony with fireplace. At sunset each night, the lodge staff come and swiftly transform the day bed on the balcony into a star bed allowing guests to sleep under the stars. As with all Baillie Lodges, tours are shared, but guests can opt into private guiding for an additional charge. Due to the heat, the days are organized safari style—early morning tours, which have you back at the lodge by lunch, followed by an afternoon at leisure and finishing with an evening excursion. Guided tours take guests to the two sacred rock formations in the area: Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Here guests will learn about the history and mythology of the sites, which hold great spiritual significance to the local Anangu people. Helicopter tours over the region are also available, as is a visit to the Field of Light. All meals are served in the Dune House (which also accommodates an extensive library for those who wish to learn more about this fascinating area's history and ecology) and showcase contemporary Australian cuisine. Don't miss the Table 131 dining under the stars experience, which is offered on alternate nights. Longitude 131° is one of the jewels of the Baillie Lodges portfolio, which was founded in 2003 by James and Hayley Baillie and includes Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island, Silky Oaks Lodge at the Daintree Rainforest and The Louise in the Barossa Valley, as well as Huka Lodge in New Zealand and Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge on Vancouver Island. Indagare Tip Says Indagare’s Kathryn Nathanson, who recently visited the property: “Guests of Longitude 131 can marvel at Uluru from sunrise to sunset, from bed (and from viewing decks). Other favorite experiences in the area included sundowners at the base of Uluru, meeting artists from Ernabella Arts, the oldest-running Aboriginal art center in Australia, and walking through the Field of Light, an outdoor installation by renowned British artist Bruce Munro featuring over 50,000 solar-powered glass spheres that are utterly mesmerizing to experience, particularly at sunset. We spent time with members of the Anangu community—the primary Aboriginal group in the Northern territory, where Longitude is located—and delving into their storytelling culture was fascinating. In their tradition, you must earn the right to tell a story and travel to learn it. We left with a new appreciation for the sharing of knowledge and how it is passed between people and generations.” Who Should Stay Longitude 131° is ideal for couples, families and lovers of history and culture."

"Peter : Ce magnifique hôtel est situé à 8 km d'Uluru et à 2 km au Sud du complexe d'Ayers Rock Resort, sur une dune de sable isolée à la limite de l'Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Luxueux, respectueux de l'environnement et romantique, le Longitude 131° propose une immersion dans la région reculée d'Uluru."
