"The Cycladic island of Kéa is so under the radar that even locals have trouble finding it on a map. But that's the appeal. One&Only is the first major hotel group to open there, bringing its signature eye for guest experience and creating a quintessential off-grid Greek retreat on an island otherwise untouched by tourism, just a boat trip away from its sister hotel on the Athenian Riviera. It's set high on a peninsula above a sea-sprayed cove, and its design is high-end minimalism meets brutalism, using traditional materials in structures that nod to the island's ancient ruins. Privacy and tranquillity are key: villas have their own patios, secluded balconies and infinity pools. At the foot of the valley is the tree-shaded beach club: a gorgeously rustic haven serving up seafood platters, couscous salads and fresh pasta paired with pale rosé sourced by Kéa-born sommelier Georgia Marouli. Then there's the spa - the largest within the One&Only group - with treatments by holistic wellness brand Subtle Energies, and behind the valley is a kids' club and sports centre with tennis courts and a half basketball court. Guests can book in for scuba diving (the island has several wrecks in its shallows) and day trips on a 1960s wooden yacht. At the peak of the hilltop is the central lobby and main restaurant with views across the Aegean and to mainland Athens and the silhouette of the Temple of Poseidon.
