"Top 100 As trendy as the crudos-and-pasta pairing is, the combo is at peak performance at Itria. Whereas most crudos tend to give me deja vu, Itria writes poems out of seafood. Offerings change often but you may encounter slips of apples that add textural contrast to oysters; preserved lemon contributing salty zest to scallops; and passion fruit pulp lending tart vibrancy to silky salmon. Pastas show an equal amount of finesse, which also tend to cycle seasonally, save for the cacio e pepe mafaldine, where the peppery classic gets enriched with eggs. Natural wine is expected here, but unconventionally, the Italian restaurant also offers sake, which makes for an effective pairing. Itria seems to take pride in being different. Crudo and pasta are why you visit Itria. On paper, the combo isn’t totally original, but the contemporary Italian-inspired restaurant has a special vision for the dishes ($16-$17). Melty slips of trout, halibut or amberjack might be marinated with preserved lemons, pickled green tomatoes or passion fruit puree; if you’re indecisive, opt for the sampling of three (small for $28, large for $50). The flowy egg-enriched mafaldine cacio e uova has become an anchor for pastas, but be sure to also try specials like the excellent orecchiette ($28), chewy rounds in a tomato sauce with smoked bonito flakes. Itria has an impressive roster of sake available; for a comprehensive sampling go for the flight (three pours for $35). The layout of the restaurant is a deep corridor, with bar seating in the center and a communal wood table at the end."

"The best Italian I’ve had in the mission.. super fresh homemade pasta. We tried the whole menu and we can safely say there are no misses. Lovely decor and warmly lit, a stones throw away from the hussle and bussle of the 24th st mission station. I hope it can survive the obvious stigma its location will evoke. The food is 1000% worth it. Would return. 8.65/10"
