"Located at 105 W 13th Street in the West Village, Cecchi's is a modern American bar and grill owned by Michael Cecchi-Azzolina, a renowned maître d' with decades of hospitality experience at establishments like Minetta Tavern and Le Coucou, who has curated an environment capturing the atmosphere, vibrancy, and old-school hospitality of NYC's quintessential restaurants. The beautifully lit, sexy, warm, and inviting space features Art Deco murals by Jean-Pierre Villafañe, rows of glowing light fixtures providing perfect ambiance for vodka-soaked memories, vintage elements from the former Café Loup, stiff white tablecloths, leather booths, chrome bar stools, and a lively Saturday night atmosphere where the lint-rolled, dress-to-impress clientele lounge and socialize in a way that evokes a post-theater hang from the 1980s when dining out was mainly a social function. Known for celebrating American comfort food classics reimagined for modern palates using ingredients in their truest form—sourcing seafood from Montauk and upstate New York rivers, produce from New York State family farms—with standout dishes including wonderfully plump, bright, saline jumbo shrimp cocktail ($8 each, minimum 3), Cecchi's burger (house sauce, American cheese, pickled green tomatoes, blend of brisket and flank), steak and fries with bavette flap cut that's wonderfully tender with salty crust and béarnaise ($42), San Gennaro in a blanket (Italian sausage in crisp puff pastry with parm), mushroom toast with sunchokes, "Not a Wedge" chopped salad (chopped for convenience with bacon and blue cheese), special ribeye, pork chop, wild striped bass, roast pork sandwich, apricot-glazed ribs, lobster salad lettuce wraps, and onion rings. The restaurant is staffed by professional bartenders mixing perfect martinis (though not listed on menu, it's what most people drink) and properly stirred cocktails including the Cecchitini Flight and New York Happy Meal (martini & fries $25), plus industry veteran front-of-house staff and enthusiastic hosts watching the door—where Cecchi himself works the room creating wonderful guest experiences, making it NYC's latest place to be despite finicky service where atmosphere takes precedence over food, though the experience never feels hollow."

"Having dinner with Michael Cecchi himself makes the experience 10x better. Classic NYC restaurant, great vibes and great service (obviously given his reputation), tried most of the menu and would say the mushrooms, cobb salad, ribs, burger, onion rings, and chocolate cake were my fav"

"It’s fitting that I slipped into Cecchi’s on my first night back in New York City after weeks of travel. This is where you go to remember why you live in the city; it’s also where you should bring your visiting friends who can’t help but mention how “New York” your life is. The menu, which owner Michael Cecchi-Azzolina says comes from researching decades of New York restaurant menus and their iconic dishes, will remind you exactly where you are. Start at the bar, where drinks range from the cheeky (cosmos! appletinis!) to great pours of Sancerre and Beaujolais. If you’re having a great time, chatting with seatmates and bartenders, stay there and order the New York Happy Meal ($25 martini and fries, offered everyday from 5-6pm and late night). When you’re ready to migrate to a table, you’ll hope you brought enough dining companions to really explore. Starters like the stuffed mushrooms go down easy, but it’s bold reincarnations of the classics like the “Not a Wedge” salad (which comes as finely chopped as Farmer in the Deli sandwich innards, and is craveably tangy) that I would go beeline to in the future. You should like meat if you’re eating here (or be taking advantage of a cheat-day from your efforts at a more plant-based diet—who’s with me?), because the apricot-glazed ribs, the steak-frites, and the burger all deserve your attention. The food is rich, so under-order to start. And make sure to look around the room between bites, as the atmosphere and constant din of spirited conversation is the most New York thing about this place."
