"They don't call it "Soleil" for nothing. This exquisite resort sits on 33 sun-drenched hillside acres with spectacular views of the Napa valley floor. The sunsets, in particular, are nothing short of magical here. What's the backstory? As the Auberge Resorts portfolio's flagship, this stay amply delivers on its promise of luxury, with stunning grounds, immaculate rooms, a positively excellent restaurant and spa, as well as intuitive, never overbearing service. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? The design ethos of the rooms (and resort, generally) can best be described as "Mediterranean meets California." Yes, you'll want to take advantage of exploring Napa Valley while you're here, but there's also nothing wrong with holing up in your room and luxuriating all day; features such as fireplaces and fantastically deep soaking tubs make it oh so easy. The Deluxe Suites come with elegant French doors that open onto an oversized private terrace. If you're really looking for a splurge, opt for one of the Private Maisons, which come with breakfast delivered to your dining room each morning, optional in-room private check-in, a $200 spa credit, and a dedicated Mercedes-Benz for your own personal use during your stay. These spectacular free-standing suites offer more than 1,800 square feet of living space, as well as outdoor soaking tubs and rainfall showers so, again, you can soak up all the "soleil" you can handle. Sure, they'll cost you a pretty penny—because as it turns out, you absolutely can put a pricetag on luxury. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? No charge for Wi-fi. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Sure, there are countless wineries within spitting distance. But why leave when The Restaurant comes with a 15,000 bottle wine cellar? Dinner here is an event, with a Mediterranean-meets-California menu. The house-made campanelle pasta with spicy sausage and pickled peppers is a highlight—each bite was a revelation of textures, spice, and layered flavors. French influence is apparent on the dessert menu, where the Tahitian vanilla profiteroles stole the show. For more casual (yet still French-inflected) meals, grab a table at The Bistro where classic, well, bistro cuisine is the name of the game. If you prefer, you can have your steak frites delivered straight to your room with twenty-four hour room service, too. There's also a killer brunch scene here—because who could say no to a three-course brunch with wine pairings to start the day? And the service? The hallmark of Auberge service is balancing presence with absence—the staff are far from overbearing, and basically intuit your every move so there's help when you need it. You barely have to ask, "Which wineries in the area are worth visiting?" and the front desk will have a repertoire of perfectly curated suggestions ready to go. What type of travelers will you find here? Well, kids under the age of 16 aren't allowed, so the resort is almost exclusively grown-ups. Expect lots of foodies and oenophiles, couples young and old, and anyone who appreciates soaking in one of these to-die-for outdoor soaking tubs. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? Located up a hillside in Rutherford, the hotel is slightly removed from the action, but that's part of the charm. The traffic, bachelorette party buses and more inelegant tourists are far out of sight and view from up here. Is there anything you'd change? Believe it or not—no. Any other hotel features worth noting? The spa is often hailed as one of the best in Napa Valley. And the outdoor sculpture garden showcases over 100 Californian artists in a sprawling, bucolic setting. And the pool! How could we forget the pool? It's one of the most splendid outdoor spaces in all of Napa Valley, not only for the food and drink service, the gorgeous outdoor setting, and the views - but also because there isn't a screaming teenager or rambunctious toddler in sight. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? It's a splurge, but you'll end up having so much life-changingly good wine you'll hardly remember the bill."

"3 Michelin Keys | From $1.5Kpn 1 Michelin star 2024 | 5* Chef Robert Curry All rooms have fireplaces, but book one of the Deluxe Private Garden suites for an outdoor soaking tub and bathroom with heated limestone flooring. Or, go up another notch with one of the 1,800-square-foot Private Maisons (Cannes or Monaco), kitted out by interior designer Suzanne Tucker. These two specialty suites deliver unobstructed views of the vineyards and surrounding mountains, and come with special amenities like a bottle of Dom Pérignon Champagne at check-in, a complimentary full bar, and a dedicated Mercedes-Benz sedan or convertible for private use throughout your stay. Auberge du Soleil is one of the first restaurants to elevate the Napa Valley to greatness, and Chef Robert Curry has been ensuring its legacy with cooking that is the very definition of Californian cuisine. As might be expected from this perch overlooking the mountains and vineyards, the wine list is notable and proudly showcases local growers. The chef's tasting menu invites guests to control how their experience unfolds. Begin with an elegant soup of sweet white corn poured tableside. Layered with bay shrimp and a cube of toasted brioche topped with tarragon crème fraîche, it is rich and creamy. Dishes continue to dazzle all the way through to dessert, where a stunning fig plate, complete with lemon gelée and fig leaf gelato, is an absolute delight."

"Un hôtel et un restaurant réputés dans la région. L'auberge, qui domine la Napa Valley, est superbement décorée de boiseries et de couleurs de terre. Le service est remarquable. Tenue correcte exigée. Si vous optez pour le dîner, ne manquez pas de venir avant le coucher du soleil pour profiter de la vue sur la terrasse."
