Some one hundred kilometres south of Hanoi, the “Halong Bay of the land” is a much less-popular destination than its famous sister, but is nonetheless a must-see when visiting Vietnam. Take a boat trip and sail along the rivers winding between the limestone cliffs to discover Ninh Binh’s landscapes up close. Remember to make a stop at the Bich Dong pagoda, up in the mountains, as well making the climb to the peak of Hang Mua, which offers a breathtaking panorama."

Better to pick an accommodation in Tam Coc, Ninh Binh itself is just a city, the bus from Phong Nha that goes to “Ninh Binh” in reality stops in Tam Coc."
