"A well-traveled, two-mile trail will bring you to Goldbug Hot Springs, a series of pools interspersed among gorgeous waterfalls. The hike is considered strenuous by many, but it is well-marked and offers beautiful views heading up the mountain. The springs are located in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, just south of Salmon, Idaho, and primitive camping is permitted nearby. Visit Goldbug Hot Springs in the fall when foliage is changing and the temperatures are cool."

"1 - Goldbug - for the best view Area: Challis/Highway 93 Heat: Both warm and cool pools Size: One big pool and several smaller ones You can’t beat Goldbug for grandeur. These hot springs are situated up a mountain, on the the top of a waterfall. Seriously, this place exists and it doesn’t even cost to get in! How can that be when these hot springs looked like a rapper’s house on Cribs? There are a couple of pools to take a soak, the top one is in the shape of a heart and has huge panoramic views. You can move around between the hot inlet and the cooler edges depending on how hot you like it. There’s a second pool down beneath this one which isn’t obvious if you didn’t know it was there. It’s shallower and cooler, but is fed by two waterfalls! One glimpse and you’ll wonder why this place isn’t raucously busy. With great effort comes great reward, and this is certainly true for Goldbug. Finding these hot springs isn’t that easy with Google Maps sending you to the wrong address and even once you’ve parked you’ll embark on a two mile hike. The path is pretty steep at the beginning and end but flat in the middle and does have some rough sections. However, it is totally worth it. https://www.walkmyworld.com/posts/idaho-hot-springs "

"This is a short but challenging hike to a beautiful hot springs. The first part of the hike is on private property, so please be quiet and considerate so that the owners will continue to allow access. There is a restroom and ample parking at the trailhead. The hike begins as a straight uphill climb through sage brush. Bring lots of water and snacks and take your time. After the initial uphill the trail levels out and follows a seasonal creek. The last part of the hike is a very steep uphill to the springs themselves. This part of the hike is challenging and you will want to make sure you have plenty of water. The springs themselves are amazing! There are many different pools, some hot some cold and some with both hot and cold water coming in. This area is very popular so you will be sharing the springs with lots of other hikers, so bring a bathing suit. You can camp in the area, but you may want to camp in the flat part before the hot springs as the springs themselves are in a canyon with few flat spots. "
