"Unexpected path as I travel along red river gorge byway. Reminded me of the one I visited when travelled around the country in 21 in Virginia. From a quick view of the trail (that I couldn’t truly tell) I thought it’d be a great trail to use my birks on without socks. I sure paid for it. Beginner mistake. A quarter mile into my walk back the side of my left foot had the skin ripped off by the birks. Ended up hiking the remaining 3/4 of a mile back to the parking lot barefoot. Lesson relearned of why birks are not meant for hiking! Sweet sights otherwise. Onto Miguel’s pizza for dinner and to get my food cleaned up & apply some first aid. "
