"Green hills, cows, waves, and an unmistakable magic in the air: bay after bay, cliff after cliff, campervans are parked together here among the cows of Cantabria. Playa de Merón and Playa de Gerra are the two largest beaches in San Vicente. One flows into the other, and together they border a small peninsula with Oyambre lying beyond. If there’s an onshore wind at Merón and Gerra, there’s a good chance it will be offshore at Oyambre. This explains why San Vicente is the surf mecca of Cantabria. It can get pretty busy on a sunny weekend, but luckily enough the weather gods don’t always favor Cantabria. The rain scares off the large hotel chains, meaning San Vicente and the surrounding beaches remain a northern paradise."
