"»Institutional Face-lift In May the Aquarium of the Pacific debuted a $53 million sustainable wing, its first major expansion since opening 20 years ago. Called Pacific Visions, the undulating, blue-glass building has an immersive theater with vibrating seats, fog, wind, and even smells, plus an art gallery and an exhibit of three very specific sea creatures: delta smelt, yellowtail, and Pacific oysters, all of which highlight the importance of preserving marine habitats. It’s a beautiful addition, yes, but also one with a deeper purpose."
