"Good rooftop! Had a fun vodka lemonade- cool vibe, live dj, good view"

"since its fame was cemented by Bruce Springsteen's1973 debut album Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ, the seaside town has had to endure years of economic decline. But now a revival is underway, led by the first new hotel here in 50 years. Designer Anda Andrei turned a red-brick building formerly home to the Salvation Army into a retro-inspired stopover with 110 rooms, many of which have ocean views, including the Suite (above). Up on the rooftop is a lantern-lit bar ideal for sunset cocktails and, in the summer, an outdoor cinema, while small-scale concerts take place in the casual lobby. For more raucous shows head to Asbury Lanes (T 732 361 6659), a neighbouring 1960s music venue, bowling alley and diner that was restored in 2018. 210 5th Avenue, T732 774 7100, www.theasburyhotel.com"
