"Located at 1125 Lexington Avenue on the Upper East Side (with additional locations at 138 West 72nd Street on the Upper West Side and other Manhattan spots), Pastrami Queen is a certified-kosher Jewish deli that traces its lineage back to 1956 when it opened as Pastrami King in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, later moving to Kew Gardens, Queens in 1961 where it became a gathering place for lawyers and politicians including Mayor Rudy Giuliani who ate there regularly and had them cater his inaugural party. The business relocated to Manhattan's Upper East Side in 1998—changing its name to Pastrami Queen to honor the mother-in-law of then-manager Gary Zinger who had begun running the operation—and has maintained its straightforward counter setup with metal tables, TV playing NY1, and no-frills kosher deli atmosphere. Known for what Anthony Bourdain called "the real deal" and "among the very best" pastrami sandwiches in New York—featuring hand-carved, thick-sliced, crumbly pastrami that's brined, seasoned, dried, and smoked using a top-secret recipe refined over generations, served warm on fresh rye bread from nearby Orwasher's Bakery with the right mustard and garlicky pickles (sours and half-sours), achieving a perfect balance of fat and lean. The menu also includes old-world Jewish delicacies like tongue tip, kasha varnishkes, stuffed cabbage, stuffed derma, matzo ball soup, epic potato pancakes, garlic fries, jumbo knishes, and hot pastrami egg rolls, maintaining recipes that date back 150 years to Eastern Europe while serving as a quintessential New York experience that feels as iconic as hailing a cab on Fifth Avenue."

"This kosher Upper East Side (and before that, Queens) transplant turned heads when it opened a few months ago during the pandemic, and it generated long, socially distanced lines. It’s been a long time since the Upper West Side could boast pastrami this good. Matzo ball soup and hot dogs liberally smeared with mustard are tops, too. Like Gray’s Papaya, it’s located within quick walking distance of both Lincoln Center and the Beacon Theatre."

"Panino pastrami buono. Ma 22$ e sempre troppo mangiarne uno intero. Stufa"
