"9/10 Rustic Parisian style bakery/cafe right on the beach at Burleigh (by the original owners of Paddock). Visited 26th January 2022 with Leda, Ashraf and Blake on the Australia Day public holiday (and somehow got a table despite them all being very late). Shared Strawberry Tart, Dolce de Leche Crueller, Babka French Toast, Miso Scramble, and Salmon Bagel. Meals Babka French Toast: a perfect way to try out the signature pastries while also getting a proper meal. The Babka was sweet without being overpowering (with so much chocolate swirled through), and the bread itself melted in the mouth. Definitely good to have the macerated strawberries to cut through the richness. Miso Scramble: Ashraf promised life changing scrambled eggs and I think he was right. The bread wasn’t too crunchy which is often a pain at fancy bakeries, and the scramble itself was super creamy with just enough miso to keep it interesting. Salmon Bagel: sometimes, things that are classic, are just really good. Surprisingly didn’t toast the bagel but it was better that way because it let the fluffiness of the bread shine. And they didn’t skimp on the salmon or cream cheese either (or the delicious fried capers). Sweets Strawberry Tart: very effective presentation. The strawberries were fresh. The filling was smooth and rich. The tarte was crumbly (although possibly a little thick). Dulce de Leche Crueller: Crueller’s are Tarte’s specialty so we were excited to try this one. And it delivered the goods. Even just the filling on its own was delicious, but even better paired with the delicious pastry (which was almost a churro but more moist in the centre)."
